Truth About IB Radio Interviews with Scott Voorhees of KFAB
Because one of our concerned readers from Omaha, Nebraska, took the time to e-mail his local radio station about what is going on in the Millard Public Schools, Scott Voorhees of KFAB radio contacted Lisa McLoughlin from Truth About IB, who agreed to go on air and present our side of the IB saga.
So for those of you who actually have a life or a job left, and didn't have the opportunity to catch the live webcast, TAIB is pleased to present you with the complete MP3 of the interview, including the rebuttal from the IB Coordinator of the Millard North High School.

TAIB is really sick and tired of IBO representatives constantly parroting what they were ordered to repeat when faced with the IB/UN connection. The IB Coordinator from Omaha recited it almost verbatim from the IB Playbook - that in the early 70's, UNESCO helped get IB off the ground but that funding stopped in 1976 and "IBO's relationship with the UN does not extend to curriculum development or assessments." To borrow from Glenn Beck - THE ONE THING LIES! STOP THE LIES! EVERYTHING ELSE IBO TRIES TO CLAIM ABOUT ITS PRODUCTS MUST BE DISMISSED AS WORTHLESS HEARSAY BECAUSE THIS ORGANIZATION LIES ABOUT ITS TRUE PURPOSE, ONGOING RELATIONSHIP AND ALLEGIANCE. Hello. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND ETHICS for the DISARMAMENT FORUM of the UNIDR??? TAIB wants readers to grasp the magnitude of this organization's power over its underlings to believe the lies you heard told by Omaha's IB Coordinator with your very own ears. A man who calls himself a "patriot" and who pointed out his military service to our country.
UNESCO The IB has been recognized as a NGO of UNESCO since 1970 and currently has the status of “formal consultative relations as a network” with UNESCO. IB representatives participate regularly in UNESCO meetings and comment on UNESCO proposals in education. Some projects have received UNESCO funding—see Cambodia and Nigeria in the list of partnerships [126 kb, PDF] and exchanges with governments and inter-governmental organizations (IGOs).
Rather interestingly, if you translate the French version of the website, the opening line reads:
The IB profits from the statute of “formal relations of consultation as a network” with UNESCO.
Profits, recognized - no difference there, right? Ian Hill served on the Earth Charter Education Committee, representing IBO. Ian Hill co-authored Jay Mathews' book on IB. Ian Hill signed the IBO/UNESCO Peace Education agreement. Ian Hill presents/publishes a curriculum and ethics paper to the UNIDR.
Please consider this a compliment Mr. Beck, we are going to borrow from you again and prepare readers for "blood to shoot out of their eyes" when they read the following from the infamous IBO Petersen Lectures:
I am really delighted—indeed, honoured—to be invited here to this assembly. When I was looking
at the list of participants I felt how heavy this weight was as far as UNESCO’s ideals are concerned,
and in particular our educational ideals. I feel here that I am really participating in a mission that is
consonant with that of UNESCO. I believe that UNESCO should become more and more connected
to real think tanks, such as the IBO council and this gathering, and make use of your organizational
experiences.
The evidence is irrefutable. Refuse to buy products from liars. Refuse to spend American taxdollars so European Socialist UN Educrats can profit. The emperor has no clothes - that's YOU IAN HILL - and your ethics and the company you work for, IBO, are about as attractive as we imagine (noooo, make it go away) Barney Frank is naked. Just as Barney of the Banking Committee claimed the "fundamentals of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack are sound", the fundamentals and propaganda of IB are based on LIES.
Now ask yourselves IB lovers, if this program is supposed to teach our children "how we know what we know about knowledge" and to create "lifelong learners" who are "global citizens" who will "make the world a better place", why would any right minded, sane, individual place the honor of bestowing that sort of mental and emotional control in the hands of liars? Haven't liars, operating in denial for their own personal gain at the expense of the taxpayers, gotten us into the global economic mess we're in now? Why would anyone trust what these people say and brainwash others to say, let alone let them near our children??
TWO MORE THINGS
- The IB Coordinator stated that "Lisa accurately gave the total number of U.S. IB schools with the DP as 685". BZZZZZT! Lisa ACCURATELY gave the number as 668. Once again, we see an IB representative's pathological compulsion to exaggerate numbers in IBO's favor.
- In an attempt to defend IBO's onerous mailing costs, the IBC stated that they are "hopeful" that in 3-5 years, all IB schools will be able to submit paperwork/exams via electronic files instead of by FedEx or DHL. But until then, all IB schools can only use the same method as the poorest school in the poorest country in the world."
Well, that's enlightening. Isn't it good to know that American taxpayers have to keep shelling out ridiculous amounts for shipping costs while we wait for Zimbabwe to catch up with us? Is that the kind of 21st century education IBO REALLY sells? The more we hear, the worse it gets.

- (NC) - I did miss your initial radio interview the other morning, but thank you for putting the taped show link on your web site, I've heard it now. I have to admit, when the coordinator spoke, he sounded so smooth and friendly, non-offensive in every way. But, don't get me wrong, I know there are underlying ideologies behind it all. One thing I thought was ironic in his reasoning for the push for global education was when he spoke of that US Strategic Command guest speaker that came to one of the IB courses. The coordinator said that this man spends his time studying other cultures and countries and the way they think...in order that they might create an "appropriate strategic DEFENSE plan", (emphasis mine). Thank goodness our defense team is facing reality. Isn't one of the main goals of globalized education to create understanding of one another so that we might coexist in peace??? Also, he says in learning about other cultures, it doesn't mean we have to agree with them...but one of the first statements they preach to the students is about how we need to listen to what others have to say and to their opinions because they may also be right. And, the whole course offered on the muslim religion in the later years curriculum, a religion supposedly good at peaceful resolution to conflicts, yeah how--by taking out entire races of people??? Anyway, thank you for speaking out.
- (NE) - Great rebuttal. I felt like the guy was probably somewhat sincere but he is a complete idiot. I didn't like them showing that a graduate had recieved honors etc... what does that have to do with the values of the program? Al Gore got an Oscar so what does that prove? I thought Voorhees was extremely soft on the guy. I think he didn't want to step on anyones toes when it came down to it. Too many advertisers with kids in the district. Thanks for doing the show. I wish it had been formatted a little differently but oh well. One thing that I thought was great was that he mentioned your website 3 or 4 times and you were on at the top of the hour which has much higher listenership. I think you could probably get on radio shows all over the country where this is in place. Those guys are always looking for something to fill time. Too bad you don't have a book to sell! yet.
- (PA) - Lisa, Brava!!!!!!! I already wrote to Mr. Voorhees to confirm that yes, children of ib opponents are in fact targets of ugly rants and treatment from peace loving Ib terrorists.
- (CA) - I listened to the interview, thought it was great. Thanks for the California "shout-out"! I really wish they would have put you on last. He (forgot his name, IB dude) admitted that it costs a bunch of money and validated your concerns. I also noticed that he said money goes to England but failed to expand upon that. He also said that the affiliation with the UN ended in the early 70's.....uh, what about the Q&A document signed by Ian Hill?
- (NH) - This is the problem with going on last... he got the last word and soft pedaled everything you said. He didn't even address the most controversial aspects except in generalities.The host had no clue how to question him on this.
- (PA) - With regards to IB Coordinator's points in favor of IB, I have the following: 1. International-mindedness, teaching of tolerance, and global citizenship, as a justification for IB is weak. The program itself can not deliver these attributes. It is the teachers that do so, with a committed administration and community, and as such, they can do so just as well without IB as with it. An IB program WITHOUT this commitment will guarantee that these attributes are NOT incorporated. I have taught at a school in Pittsburgh that has all three levels of IB. The level of international mindedness is very low. There is no Model UN program. Few if any students participate in World Affairs Council (Our Pittsburgh Chapter is nationally recognized and we can not fill an SUV with enough students to justify a journey to their conferences downtown). The Thai Exchange program can not find enough families interested in hosting students from Thailand. Our foreign language program is considered to be poor by both students and parents. The Thai Exchange program can not find enough families interested in hosting students from Thailand. This year , some families are taking 5 students each because there as so few volunteers.
2. His suggestion that IB is a rigorous program, begs the question: as compared to what? Good teachers and administrations should be developing curriculum for all students that is "rigorous". IB in elementary and middle schools do not come with curriculum. So that rigor is developed at home anyway. So why pay?
3. This idea that IB is a method of instruction--inquiry based, teaching students to be "lifelong learners", is silly since it implies that IB has ownership of this type of instruction when in fact it is a standard in education schools across the country. All teachers should be incorporating this type of teaching in all classrooms. At the same time it is not the only type of instruction and should be used as well as others. Students should learn to learn in different ways.
So, here is the question that you must ask these IB zealots: What is it that IB does that can not be done without it? Answer: Without it you can not get a certificate.....Bingo. They are selling certificates. So here';s the question to ask administrators at schools wanting it: Does your school have such a poor reputation that you have to prop it up with an extra label? Don't you have better things to spend your money on?
- (NY) - I just listened to the radio interview. Great Job! I wish you had more air time. So, what is next...can you get some air time on Fox News? There is a story here...people just don't want to take the time to investigate what their children are learning. The scary part of this program is the early years and the middle years and the open minds of children to be steered in the left. By the way, was that my question about can you find anything good about IB? (yes) Keep up the fight.
- (TX) - I listened to your talk radio interview. You did great! I can't believe how IB supporters simply lie about the connection to the UN. Why didn't the host ask about the current document that shows how IB is making their curriculum in line with the UN peace initiative? I mean, the facts are not in dispute here. The question of which side is telling the truth isn't in dispute, either.
